Solar pool heating

Swim season doesn’t end when summer does.

Extend your pool time year-round with clean, reliable solar heating, run by the Florida sun and the pump you already own.

How it works

Solar-Fitting your home means the difference between owning your pool… and loving your pool.

Your existing pool pump sends water up to solar collectors on the roof. The sun warms it as it climbs, and it flows back down pleasantly warm. That is the whole machine.

No moving parts of its own, no fuel, no new utility line, and next to nothing to maintain. Your only job is setting the temperature you want. The sun handles the bill.

A longer season

Comfortable water long after unheated pools go cold, and back in earlier every spring.

Sunshine is the heat source. Running costs stay near zero, whatever the utility does.

Two ways to warm water

Sun on the roof, or heat from the air.

Most pools want the solar heater. When a roof is too shaded or too full, a heat pump gets you the same warm water another way. We design, install and service both.

Solar pool heater

  • Heated by sunshine, with running cost near zero
  • Uses the pump you already own
  • No fuel, no flame, nothing to top up
  • The pick when your roof has the room

Swimming pool heat pump

  • Pulls heat from Florida air, like an AC in reverse
  • Up to 80% cheaper than propane to run
  • 50–70% cheaper than natural gas
  • As little as a few hours of run time a day

The quiet upgrade either way: a pool blanket. It can cut heating costs by up to 60%. Our free pool heating audit shows you the numbers with and without one.

The season, measured

From a 107-day pool to a 290-day pool.

An unheated Florida pool is comfortable roughly 107 days a year. Solar heating stretches that to around 290. Same pool, same water, nearly three times the swimming.

Unheated pool

~107

days of comfortable swimming a year

Solar-heated pool

~290

days of comfortable swimming a year

How these figures are calculated

Days of use are based on the last 30 years’ average weather conditions for your location, and assume the use of a solar blanket when nighttime temperatures fall below 60°F. Your pool’s screen, exposure and size move the numbers; the audit gives you yours.

The season, in temperatures

Why a solar pool is a 290-day pool.

Three pools in Central Florida, averaged over thirty years of weather. The unheated ones cross 78° in late spring and fall back below it by Labor Day. The solar-heated one gets there in February and holds until December.

Central Florida average pool temperatures through the year A solar-heated pool stays above 78 degrees from mid-February to the end of November, about 290 days. An unscreened unheated pool manages about 144 days, mid-April to early September; a screened unheated pool about 107, May to late August. 55° 60° 65° 70° 75° 80° 85° 90° 95° 100° Comfortable: 78° and up Solar-heated pool · 290 days Unscreened, unheated · 144 days Screened, unheated · 107 days JanFebMar AprMayJun JulAugSep OctNovDec Central Florida average pool temperatures
