Battery storage

When the grid goes down, yours does not have to.

A home battery keeps the fridge cold, the well pump running and the lights on through an outage, and stores your own solar for the hours the sun is not out. Franklin and Tesla, installed by our crews.

Why a battery

Two jobs, every day and the bad days.

Every day: your panels make more power than the house uses at midday. Without a battery that surplus goes to the utility and comes back as a bill credit. With one, it stays home and runs the evening.

The bad days: when a storm takes the grid down, a solar system alone shuts off for safety. Add a battery and the house keeps running: the fridge and freezer, the well pump, the Wi-Fi, a bedroom AC, the medical equipment that does not get to wait for a crew.

In Florida that is not a luxury feature. It is the reason a lot of our customers call in the first place.

Sized to what matters

What stays on is a design decision.

One battery covers the essentials. Two or three cover the house. We size it to what you actually need to keep running, not to a brochure.

Essentials

One battery

Refrigerator and freezer, lights, Wi-Fi and phones, the well pump or sump. Roughly 13 to 15 kWh of storage keeps these going through the night.

Comfort

Two batteries

Everything above plus a bedroom or main-floor air conditioner, the garage door and the water heater cycling as needed.

Whole home

Three or more

Central air, the pool pump, the kitchen. The house runs normally and recharges from the roof every morning the sun is out.

Add later

Stackable

Both brands stack. Start with one now and add a second in a year. Batteries can also be added to a solar system we or anyone else installed.

The hardware

Two brands we install and stand behind.

We install Franklin and Tesla, indoors in a garage or outdoors on an exterior wall, whichever the house and the code call for. Both carry manufacturer warranties of ten years or more, and both are serviced by the same crews that installed them.

Franklin aPower

Whole-home backup managed by its aGate smart panel, so the system decides what to keep running and for how long. Pairs with any solar array, including ones we did not install.

Tesla Powerwall

The battery most people ask for by name. Integrated inverter, app control, storm-watch mode that charges to full when severe weather is forecast.

With solar

The full version. The roof charges the battery every day, the battery runs the house every night, and the grid becomes the backup instead of the other way round.

Without solar

A battery alone still carries the house through an outage, charging from the grid ahead of a storm. Solar can be added on top later.

Storm season

The outage is not the emergency. The fourth day is.

Most Florida outages are hours. The ones people remember are the days: food gone, no water from the well, a house at ninety degrees. A battery that recharges from the roof each morning does not run out on day two.

Incentives

What a battery does and does not earn you.

At home: the federal residential credit ended on December 31, 2025, for solar and batteries alike. Florida still charges no sales tax on certified solar equipment, and a battery paired with your array keeps more of your own power at home instead of selling it back at the utility's terms.

For a business, church or municipality: storage kept its 30% federal credit beyond the 2027 solar sunset, and tax-exempt owners can receive it as a direct payment. See the commercial credit and Direct Pay.
